Intervista ESCLUSIVA a Lee MacDougall

1) What inspired your song "How to be"?

I was actually having a bit of writer's block at the time, and one day Rob Pattinson started telling me about a new movie that he was about to start shooting called How To Be. He told me it was about a young musician who was basically a bit of a failure with girls and in life in general. I thought it sounded really funny and I identified with it straight away and thought maybe I could write something for the soundtrack. So I went home and wrote it in a couple of days and gave it to Rob. Everyone really liked it but unfortunately it was too late to be used for the movie as the soundtrack had already been cut. I played it at a gig a few weeks later just for a bit of fun really and it got such a great response from the crowd i thought, actually.. I'll keep this song for myself!

2) If you can choose for which Rob's movie you would write a song? Why?

I have a new song called "Stay" which is probably the most romantic thing I've ever written. I've had quite a few emails from Twilight fans saying it would fit really well on the next Twilight movie... and I definitely wouldn't object if that were to happen!

3) What do you think about your song ‘Falling in love for the last time’ become a sort Rob & Kristen theme tune?

I think it's great! I'm just really pleased that so many people are being positive about the song and I'm very grateful that it has allowed my music to be heard by a much wider audience.

4)What are your future plans?

I've just started talks with Bobby Long's manager Phil Taylor at Up All Night Music Management about doing a 50 date tour of the USA from February until mid April next year. I think that America is such an important place within the music industry and the people there are always really positive and enthusiastic about music. I've been communicating with lots of fans over there already about touring there and they have already been really supportive, offering their help and wanting to be involved. I can't wait to get out there and repay them with some great gigs.

I'm also back in the studio next month with Stereophonics producer Jim Lowe to start work on some new recordings which will hopefully lead on to the making of my debut album.

5)When you came in Italy?

I'm really hoping that when I get back from the USA next year I can tour Europe. There are so many amazing places I'd love to play - Germany, France, Spain, Holland, Sweden... and of course Italy! So hopefully it won't be too long before I can pay you guys a visit ;-)

1)  Cosa ti ha ispirato per scrivere la canzone "How to be"?

Era un periodo dove avevo un pò il 'blocco dello scrittore' quando un giorno Rob mi raccontò di un nuovo film che avrebbe iniziato a girare chiamato "How to Be".  Mi descrisse la  trama, che era quella  di un giovane musicista che di base era un fallimento sia con le ragazze e con la vita in generale. Mi risultava davvero divertente e mi identificai immediatamente così pensai che avrei potuto scrivere qualcosa per la colonna sonora. Ritornai a casa e scrissi in un paio di giorni una canzone che diedi a Rob. Tutti l'apprezzarono davvero ma sfortunatamente era troppo tardi per essere  incisa nella colonna sonora.  La suonai ad un concerto poche settimane dopo, così per divertimento, ed ebbe un tale successo che pensai, in realtà... Terrò questa canzone per me!

2) Se potessi scegliere per quale film di Rob scriveresti una canzone? Perchè?

Ho una nuova canzone intitolata "Stay" che probabilmente è la più romantica che io abbia mai scritto. Ho ricevuto diverse e-mail da fans della saga di "Twilight" dicendo che si adatterebbe molto bene al prossimo "Twilight" film... e io sicuramente non avrei nulla da obiettare se ciò accadesse!

3) Cosa pensi del fatto che la tua canzone "Falling in love for the last time" è diventata una specie di tema di Robert e Kristen?

Penso che sia fantastico! Mi fa davvero piacere che così tante persone apprezzino la canzone e sono molto grato di questo perchè così la mia musica viene ascoltata da un pubblico molto più ampio.

4) Quali sono i tuoi progetti futuri?

Ho da poco parlato con il manager di Bobby Long, Phil Taylor, della Up All Night Music Management per fare un tour di 50 date negli USA da Febbraio fino a metà Aprile dell'anno prossimo. Penso che l'America abbia un posto importante nell' industria musicale e che la gente è sempre positiva ed entusiasta nei confronti della musica. Sto già comunicando con molti fan Statunitensi circa il fare dei tour là e mi hanno dimostrato un grande supporto, offrendo il loro aiuto e aspettando di essere coinvolti. Io non vedo l'ora di ripagarli con dei magnifici concerti.

Inoltre tornerò in studio il prossimo mese insieme al produttore degli Stereophonics, Jim Lowe, per iniziare a lavorare su alcune nuove registrazioni che si spera portino alla realizzazione del mio album di debutto.

5) Quando vieni in Italia?

Spero davvero, che quando ritornerò dagli USA il prossimo anno, possa fare dei tour in Europa. Ci sono così tanto meravigliosi posti dove amerei suonare -  Germania, Francia, Spagna, Olanda, Svezia... e sicuramente l' Italia! Quindi ragazzi speriamo che non passi troppo tempo prima di potervi fare visita ; )
